Gwyneth Paltrow’s mom say: “Gwyneth is extraordinarily accomplished in every area and people don’t like that”

Is it terrible, but I love when the NAUGHTY BUT NICE ROB team ask BLYTHE DANNER about Gwyneth because she always just goes off – well isn’t that mom’s are supposed to do?

“I’ve never been to an opening night that I’ve been in where I haven’t insisted on a glass of champagne, no wine or beer for me,” Danner said at the opening of her play THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA.

“I haven’t had the good fortune to have a part like this in the last 10, 20 years. I think you begin to so appreciate when a good role comes along. I remember when I first did ‘Butterflies Are Free,’ and I was 26 and I was very flippant about the whole thing, ‘Oh what do they mean? A Tony, I don’t deserve that,’ and I was rather dismissive of it and then I raised a family,” she said. “No I wouldn’t kill for a Tony. As Chekov says, it’s not the fame and glory, it’s the work and it was just a beautiful experience work wise but when you’re young you do tend to fluff it off, ‘Oh well, that’s that,’ but I am very grateful for the role now.”

Like mother, like daughter! And talking off her daughter we had to ask about Gwyneth.

“I admire her so much. It (the criticism) doesn’t faze her. I think it probably did initially. She said, ‘Mom, I’m going to get this all my life. This is how they see me.’ I feel she’s just extraordinarily accomplished in every area and people don’t like that, some people don’t like that, people who are bored and sit on their asses all day and just tap away. I mean I don’t read any of it, I just find it so disgusting. There is a coarsening of our culture today that is just so tragic.”
