The person responsible for putting Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on the cover of Vogue was not icy Anna Wintour but Grace Coddington – 73-year-old creative director at Vogue.
The magazine originally considered doing a wedding story with look-alikes, then committed to getting the soon-to-be bride and groom themselves.
Coddington: “I do think Kim Kardashian represents this moment in our culture. I’m fascinated by her, in the same way I’m fascinated by the people I see on the street or the subway.”
Coddington only has kind words to say about the shooting experience describing Kim as “very professional,” and baby North as “very well-behaved. We did millions of pictures and she did not cry once. I got quite upset we did not have the baby on the cover.”
