Britney Spears and her husband Sam Asghari have separated after one year of marriage and seven years of dating, TMZ reports. Sources told the outlet that the breakup occurred because of “a nuclear argument that involve[d] allegations of cheating.”
Multiple sources with “direct knowledge” told TMZ that it was Asghari who confronted Spears about a week ago over rumors that she had been unfaithful to him.
Asghari believed the rumor, although the outlet noted that it was unclear whether it was actually rooted in fact. The accusation led to a huge fight and Asghari moved out of their house into his own place. One source told TMZ, “It’s only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce.” Spears has a prenup that protects her assets, TMZ noted.
Sources also told TMZ that Spears’ behavior had been erratic “at times,” and Asghari had reached his limit and felt as if he was at his wits’ end dealing with it.
Neither Spears nor Asghari have publicly commented on the breakup report yet.
Spears’ last Instagrams have been fashion and dance-focused. Asghari posted two weeks ago about his mother recovering from an accident and announced he would be taking a social media break.
