Britney Spears’ friends say she knew her marriage to Sam Asghari was doomed — and feel the pop star is “better off” without him.
The “Stronger” singer, 41, “knew she and Sam had issues in their relationship and felt it coming,” a source told Entertainment Tonight of Asghari, 29, filing for divorce last week.
Even so, the insider said Spears, who met the fitness trainer in 2016, “didn’t want to let go.”
She reportedly “feels like the rug has been pulled from underneath her and is trying to adjust to single life.”
Though “friends are telling her that she is better off,” the music icon “doesn’t want to acknowledge that because it is too painful,” according to the source.
Other outlets have reported that Spears’ lawyer and manager are “the last people standing” in her corner.
The new remarks come just two days after ET heard that Asghari, 29, is “getting settled into his new place and focused on moving on.”
Despite the former couple ceasing contact, Spears is reportedly footing the whopping $10,000 per month bill for the luxury digs, one of the most expensive in L.A., TMZ reports.
The fitness trainer moved out of his and Spears’ shared home just days before he filed for divorce last Wednesday. The couple, who married in June 2022, reportedly split after Asghari accused Spears of both violent outbursts and infidelity with a male house employee.
Spears last week took to Instagram to say she was “a little shocked” to be on her own again.
“I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business!!! But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly!!!” she said, noting she’d been “playing it strong for way too long.”
