One of the most shocking splits of 2023 was easily when the world learned that Joe Jonas retained a divorce lawyer to begin proceedings with his now estranged wife Sophie Turner. There have been many conflicting reports about their relationship dynamic, and why they decided to part ways after four years of marriage. However, one insider is claiming that not only was this breakup not exactly amicable, but Turner allegedly begged Jonas to wait until this moment before filing for divorce.
“Sophie had wanted Joe to wait until she was back in the States,” an insider said to OK. “She begged for another chance.”
For those that don’t know, after a multi-year hiatus from acting to take care of their daughters, Turner recently flew back home to the UK to film the new show Joan. This insider claims that she begged Jonas to wait until production wrapped, and that she could go back to the US to work things out with him, but it’s clear he didn’t wait.
“Sophie seems to have reluctantly accepted it, even if it does mean some painful discussions about custody arrangements and the practical inconvenience of both parents being based on different continents,” the insider added. “It’s an agonizing and painful situation.”
While the Game of Thrones star has stayed more quiet about the situation than Jonas, she did post to Instagram on Sept 5.
She posted a photo that read “Statement from the two of us,” continuing on by saying, “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Joe and Turner started dating in 2016, eloped in 2019, and welcomed two daughters named Willa and another daughter whose name they haven’t released, but is going by the initials D.J. They announced their divorce in Sept 2023 after news broke that Jonas retained a divorce lawyer.
