We hope you too will join us for the gala, which helps support our exciting programs, purchase art supplies and sports equipment, and also offer partial/full scholarships for underprivileged students.
The gala helps raise funds and awareness for our after-school program. We have previously honored Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, New York State Assemblyman Dan Quart and New York City Councilwoman Carlina Rivera, among others. These events are our biggest annual fundraisers, drawing letters of support from elected officials across the state.
The gala will take place on the river cruise boat Liberty Belle. Please register online. There is no on-site registration.
The Super Happy Healthy Kids program was started to promote the development of healthy lifestyle habits within the early development stages of our city’s amazing children. We are a Department of Education approved vendor, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to the academic, physical, and emotional development of children within New York City. We are a “NO” added sugar after-school program. We do not offer packaged or processed snacks. Our program only provides certified organic fresh fruits as snacks and spring water for our kids. We educate our kids to make good choices. We believe we are what we eat.
Our mission is to teach children to communicate through “kind words and kind acts,” to prevent bullying and to increase empathy and emotional intelligence. We engage our children with fun and valuable activities that pass on core values of kindness, leadership, and self-motivation. Our current activities include Chinese Calligraphy, Chess, Lego building, Outdoor sports, Dance, Karate, Yoga, Healthy Cooking, Art and Meditation. Through our programs and activities, we teach our children and their families to think and communicate positively. We want our children to create the future with strength and compassion.
Currently, our program is available to New York City public school students and serves about 2,200 children in Pre-K to 5th grade. Our program is also an approved provider of internships for college credit.
Since we began five years ago, we have awarded more than $100,000 in academic scholarships for underprivileged students. Super Happy Healthy Kids’ goal is to encourage kids and parents to say kind words and do kind acts. We have additionally provided about $50,000 for our host schools and their Parent Teacher Associations. Our future goals are establishing our own Pre-K to 12th grade school, and building organic, hydroponic rooftop gardens on our on-site schools. We have already have received support for this project from the prestigious Cooper Union school of architecture, and multiple elected officials, and Community Board #3.
Please join our movement to encourage kind words and kind acts, and to stamp out meanness and bullying™.
