Tony Award-winning producer Ken Davenport (Once On This Island) has launched his new book Broadway Investing 101: How to Make Theater and Yes, Even Make Money!
The next Hamilton is out there. And this book will help you find it.
Once again, Ken Davenport is shining a light on the closed door club that is Broadway. In this new book, Davenport discusses how to break into the industry, what to know before making your first investment, and what to negotiate for.
“Broadway investing, while without a doubt a high-risk investment, can be a fun, fulfilling and yes, even a profitable experience. You just have to know the landscape, and that’s exactly what you’ll learn from this book,” says Ken Davenport.
Ken Davenport is a Tony Award-winning Broadway producer whose credits include: Once On This Island (2018 Tony Award Best Musical Revival), Gettin’ The Band Back Together, Deaf West Theatre’s Spring Awakening, Kinky Boots (Tony Award), The Visit (Tony nomination), It’s Only a Play, Mothers and Sons (Tony nomination), The Bridges of Madison County, Macbeth starring Alan Cumming, Godspell, Chinglish, Oleanna starring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles, Speed-the-Plow, Will Ferrell’s You’re Welcome America (Tony nomination), Blithe Spirit starring Angela Lansbury (Broadway, West End and National Tour), and 13, as well as Daddy Long Legs, That Bachelorette Show, Altar Boyz, My First Time, The Awesome 80s Prom, and Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating, & Marriage Off-Broadway. He also produced the award winning These Magnificent Miles: On the Long Road with Red Wanting Blue, a documentary on one of the top unsigned rock bands in the country. Ken was featured on a national commercial for Apple’s iPhone, named one of Crain’s “40 Under Forty” and is one of the co-founders of TEDxBroadway.
Despite the risks, it is possible to find and invest in shows that turn a profit if you understand the mechanics of Broadway investing and follow the simple strategies of screening your investments, which Mr. Davenport teaches in this book. These strategies are the same methods that Mr. Davenport uses to choose his own investments, and are why he’s currently “beating the market” compared to the average success rates on Broadway, while supporting and advancing the art form he loves at the same time.
These strategies and more are outlined in Broadway Investing 101: How to Make Theater and Yes, Even Make Money, which is now available for pre-sale on Amazon.com
