Nicolas Cage was lunching at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Wednesday when our PR man buddy Hal Lifson bumped into the esteemed actor and found out that Cage is planning a revival film of the 1980 cult classic “Valley Girl” the film, along with “The Lost Boys” that made Cage a star.
Valley Girl, directed by Martha Coolidge starred Deborah Foreman as Julie and Cage as Randy the sweet Valley Girl and Hollywood leather tough kid who fall in love despite her affection for the Mall and saying “Oh My God, Fer Sure!” constantly.
Cage is planning to reboot the Valley Girl movie and try his hand at directing as well. Original stars Foreman, E.G. Daily, and Colleen Camp set to return with a new cast of young Valley kids. Cage has always had an affinity for Valley Girl, which was actually a very good satire of teen culture and had a very successful music soundtrack (groups like The Plimsouls “Million Miles Away” and singer Josie Cotton “Johnny Are You Queer?” featured.)
Cage has always had affection for the Valley Girl film and even appears in interview segments on the DVD version of the film. Cage looked very fit and was eating a healthy McCarthy salad (famous at the Polo Lounge) and talked of how he’s taken up running recently and is training for his first marathon!
Maybe he should train with Lindsay Lohan? Now, there’s a Valley Girl for you. Oh sorry, I meant Valley of The Dolls girl!
