Lara Spencer and Sam Champion are still the closet of friends, even following her mocking of 6-year-old Prince George and his love of ballet.
“Lara and Sam’s relationship is very special. They became best friends when they both worked together on Good Morning America. After each show they would hang out in the office and even go out together at night. Staffers used to call them ‘Will and Grace,” and even though Sam is no longer at the show they are still best friends. She is going to his birthday party and he has her back,” sources tell STRAIGHT SHUTER. “Now after Lara’s remarks about Prince George loving ballet, Sam was the first person to reach out to Lara and show his support. Sam is genuine and knows Lara loves the gay community.”
Additionally, Lara’s out hairdresser for over 23 years, Greg Giannillo, said, “I was there in the dressing room with her as she was writing the story, she put on the air that day. I can tell you with 100% certainty that I know for a fact the story was about a crazy heavy schedule of a 6-year-old boy and nothing to do with ballet itself.”
Insiders add that the person who will decide Lara’s future at GMA is the out, gay star of the show, Robin Roberts.
