Derek Jeter finished his career in pinstripes at Yankee Stadium Thursday night. The iconic Yankees captain certainly had a night to remember as he finished off his 20-year career with a walk-off hit against the Baltimore Orioles in the bottom of the 9th.
The Yankees still have three games to play against the Red Sox in Boston, but Thursday’s walk-off win was Jeter’s last in the Bronx. Following the game, he announced that he would not be playing in the field for the final games in Boston, but he will bat as the DH (designated hitter) out of respect for the fans.
The Yankees blew the lead in the top of the 9th, which set up this amazing, story-book ending for one of the greatest ball players to ever live.
