For his fifth appearance on Saturday Night Live Ben Affleck spent used his monologue to apologize after saying his marriage was ‘work’ during his Oscars speech.
He made amends, through comedy, to his wife Jennifer Garner by calling his wife on to the stage to defend his comments. Jennifer gave him a big kiss before the director asked his wife to ‘Tell the people what I meant when I said marriage is work’.
“Well, it is a way we talk privately about how committed we are to our marriage,” she said. “I’m not sure why you had to share it live to a billion people.”
And as to what she would have called their marriage – “A gift!”
Ben jokingly reading off a cue card as he attempted to make amends: “I want to tell you how I wished I had ended that speech – I couldn’t do anything I do without your love and support you’re my angle, my life and my world.”
Laughing away at her husband Jen made sure to get in the last word: “Thank you you’re a lot of work!”
