Mariah Carey simply refused to acknowledge her birthday on Wednesday’s American Idol live show, staying away from all discussion of her special day.
At one point the diva talked over a contestant who wished her ‘happy birthday’ and later ignored Ryan Seacrest as he attempted to congratulate her.
“She is very sensitive about it,” a friend of the singer tells Naughty But Nice Rob. “She celebrated in private but didn’t want to do anything in public. The producers wanted the entire audience to sing Happy Birthday to her as the show ended – but Mariah told them, ‘please don’t.”
