NBC will think twice before it messes with Harvey Weinstein and his new Broadway-bound musical ‘Finding Neverland.’ After being excluded from this years Macy’s parade on NBC, Weinstein and his team called up NBC’s morning competition at ‘Good Morning America’ to book composer Gary Barlow and Laura Michele.
“[The] show is not part of Macy’s telecast this year at all. Rather, Finding Neverland will be doing a great “unplugged” number on GMA with Gary Barlow and Laura Michele. Peter Pan will be nicely represented on NBC this year and we look forward to doing it next year,” the show’s PR’s tell THE GOSSIP TABLE.
This year’s parade will include performances from On The Town, Side Show, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder and Sting – trying to save his musical The Last Ship. Peter Pan Live! the televised event airing the following Thursday on NBC, will also be featured.
“NBC wanted to use the millions of viewers who watch the parade to promote it’s primetime musical of Peter Pan. They didn’t want two Peter Pan shows in the broadcast, so despite Weinstein’s loud voice, they passed on including his show. As you can imagine, he wasn’t happy,” adds a TV source.
The Today Show hosts Matt Lauer, Al Roker, and Savannah Guthrie will anchor the three-hour broadcast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from 9am-noon.
(I saw the show in BOSTON! It is amazing……one of the best musicals I have seen)
