More and more men are getting plastic surgery and it’s the square jaws seen on Jon Hamm and Daniel Craig that is ‘in’, while the dainty chin and ‘boyish’ look of Leonardo DiCaprio and Zac Efron that are ‘out.’
“There’s less of a desire now for a conventionally beautiful white-bread face,’ Dr. Steven Teitelbaum, an associate professor of plastic surgery at UCLA says.
“People are embracing strong features like ethnic, nontraditional noses. Instead of having traditional rhinoplasty, more and more men are opting to balance out their large facial features with chin implants.”
According to the American Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, men had almost 800,000 cosmetic procedures in 2012, or nine per cent of the total.
The number of cosmetic procedures for men has increased over 121per cent since 1997 – and the most popular surgical procedures were liposuction, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, breast reduction and facelift.
“Our practice has seen a tremendous increase in male patients. New technology such as minimally invasive laser facelift “PrecisionTx” has become increasingly popular with men seeking consultations.
But not unlike women, male patients have their own celebrity “look alike” list. Many men are asking for Matt Damon’s jaw, Hugh Jackman is mentioned by men looking for eye procedures, Robert Pattinson’s chin and Brad Pitt is often used for body comparisons,” Dr. Theo Diktaban in Manhattan tells Naughty But Nice Rob.
