In “Life With La Toya,” Michael Jackson’s older sister sets the record straight. And although La Toya loves every minute of it, it’s a different Jackson that surprising is enjoying it even more – her mother.
“The curtains have been revealed, take a look. My mother loves this. It was like ‘yes, yes, yes – honey you should do this.’ I thought my mom was camera shy but she is loving this,” La Toya, tells Naughty But Nice Rob. “It took about six months to do this. As a matter of fact you don’t even see the cameras after a while. It is like they are not there. At the end of the day we are a regular family. We are just like you are, we are like everyone else but people don’t realize that. This will show people who we are and how se live.
“I did not think twice when asked to do the show. This is something I wanted to do because people have a misconception of our family and what we are and I’m like, let me show you who I am. Let me be myself on screen and now you can judge for yourself,” she says.
“Biggest misconception is the same as the family, they all think we are strange, weird, crazy – all those different things – and we are not. We are just like you are. No one likes to hear cruel things about themselves, especially when they are negative and they are wrong. More than anything else, I hurt’s my mother. People don’t realize when you are being that way you are hurting a heart. People look at our family as objects and we are people too,” she adds.
“Life With La Toya,” airs Saturday at 10:30 on OWN.
