It seems that Jay-Z might have cheated, and that’s a big no-no in sports. Jay-Z may have played a part in recruiting New York Jets quarterback, Gino Smith. If that’s true, the rapper and his sports agency, Roc Nation Sports, would be in big trouble for violating NFL rules for recruitment. Only NFLPA-certified agents may be involved in the recruitment of clients, and since Jay-Z has not passed his two-day certification yet, he could be deemed a “runner.” A “runner” is someone who helps secure a client, but is not certified. (Runners are banned by the NFL.) If that’s the case, he could face a fine, suspension or even a permanent ban.
Gino’s adviser, John Thornton, told CBS Sports, “It really all came down to who he was most comfortable with. I was in those meetings and Jay-Z connected with him on many levels.” He later took to Twitter to say that he had been misquoted.
Take a look at the picture. I guess it’s not always the best move to Tweet a pic of yourself with someone who you aren’t supposed to have contact with yet. Oops!
