It was just announced that Meredith Vieira is throwing her hat in the daytime talk-show ring. But what hasn’t been revealed yet is the GMA’s popular anchor, Robin Roberts, is also in talks to get her very own show.
“Robin is one of the most popular people on TV. After her recent health scare people have grown to love her even more, seeing how brave she is,” one network insider tells NAUGHTY BUT NICE ROB. “They are going to shoot a pilot and then see if they want to move forward with a full season.”
Meredith’s show taped a pilot several months ago before NBC Universal agreed to syndicate it to local stations starting in September 2014. Like Meredith, Robin’s show will be taped in New York City and combine a mixture of celebrities and human-interest segments with everyday people.
“Robin has taken Good Morning America to the No. 1 morning show. This is her time and she isn’t going to let it pass her by,” adds another pal.
However, daytime talk has been treacherous – just ask Katie Couric, Anderson Cooper, Ricki Lake and Jeff Probst (the last three have already been canceled)
