“What has happened to ‘Downton Abbey’s’ Dan Stevens?” is the question that everyone was asking when Dan turned up at New York Observer’s 25th anniversary party in NYC?
Sporting a totally new look, Dan was almost unrecognizable at the event. Where he seemed happy to fade into the background.
“He must have lost 15lbs. His hair is no longer blonde. It’s now dark brown and spiky,” says on eyewitness. “Its like he is doing everything in his power to move on from being Matthew Crawley and the show that made him a star.”
Dan left the show last season, after a dramatic car crash left his character dead. He is now filming, “A Walk Among the Tombstone,’ with Liam Neeson after ending a successful run on Broadway opposite Jessica Chastin in “The Heiress.”
“Dan has a strange relationship with fame,” one of his friends tell NBNROB. “He want’s to be known for his work, not for his celebrity. Walking away from ‘Downton’ will either be a genius move or the biggest mistake in his career.”
Only time will tell.
