JAY-Z Reacts To Rumors That Rihanna Booked Super Bowl 2020 Halftime Show

JAY-Z announced a long-term partnership with the NFL as the football league’s “live music entertainment strategist,” but the hip-hop heavyweight isn’t giving away any clues as to whether Rihanna has or has not booked the the Super Bowl 2020 Halftime Show.

When asked if the entertainer, who is set to drop a new album this year, is performing at next year’s halftime show, he responded: “You have to ask her. That’s a tough question.” It’s a coy response, but an inquiry that has popped up several times amongst the Navy because Rih’s affiliation to Roc Nation and JAY-Z. The business mogul and his company will consult on NFL entertainment, including the Super Bowl Halftime Show, the creation of podcasts, visual albums, other events and concerts

It was only less than a year ago when the 31-year-old shaded the NFL and reportedly declined an offer to entertain during the 2019 installment because of her support for ex-NFL star Colin Kaepernick. “The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta. They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance,” another insider told Entertainment Tonight. “The offer and exposure would have been great for Rihanna as she’s planning a new album and tour but she stuck to what’s right in her eyes.” Among the other stars who reportedly declined appearances during the halftime show included Cardi B, Pink and Adele.

The 2020 Super Bowl is scheduled to take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on February 2.
