Opening of Haven Beer Garden and Handies by Bou at The Sanctuary Hotel in Midtown
Chef David Bouhadana and owner Erika London were on hand for the private opening of Handies by Bou at The Sanctuary Hotel in Midtown (132 W. 47th Street on Tuesday, July 17th). The 8-seat fast casual hand roll bar sits where the hotel’s concierge desk once was and has been completely re-imagined.
The Sanctuary Hotel’s father/son ownership team Hank Freid and Brandon Freid were also at the party, greeting guests as they sampled Chef Bouhadana’s delicious creations complemented perfectly by a wide selection of sakes. Handies by Bou is now officially open Monday to Friday for lunch and dinner in addition to offering dinner on Saturdays on a first come first served basis. The Handies by Bou menu features Yellowtail, Salmon, Tuna, Toro, Scallop, Crab and Uni. Sushi by Bou, a timed 30-minute $50 omakase experience served up for 8 guest at a time beneath The Sanctuary Hotel, and Handies by Bou were conceptualized by Chef David Bouhadana and hospitality gurus Michael Sinensky and Erika London. Sinensky and London have worked as a team for over a decade, creating nightlife institutions in NYC ranging from SideBAR in Union Square, to Hudson Terrace in Midtown West.
The night also celebrated the launch of Haven Beer Garden, located atop the hotel’s East-wing roof, where guests enjoyed a selection of the beers on tap and Rosé Sangria pairing them with samplings of sliders and pretzels, and hot dogs from their hot dog cart.
Haven Beer Garden is open Monday to Sunday and offers up 11 beers and ciders on tap, which will rotate seasonally with current selections including Angry Orchard Rose Cider, Brooklyn Summer Ale, Captain Lawrence IPA, Sweet Water Extra Pale Ale and New Castle Brown Ale. Apart from the sliders, pretzels and hot dogs, the Haven Beer Garden menu will also feature menu options from Haven Rooftop’s regular menu with choices including Shrimp & Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad, Buffalo Wings and Margherita Pizza.
