First Jimmy Kimmel gets a new time slot on ABC, then it was confirmed that Jay Leno is being replaced by Jimmy Fallon on NBC – and now folks are wondering how much long can David Letterman last with the new generation taking over late night!
Letterman’s contract ends in 2014 {the same time as Leno) and already TV insiders are saying he too will most likely be replaced.
“It is all about the young demo, David is the best but he is now in his late 60’s and TV executives want young people,” one industry executive tells Naughty But Nice Rob. “He looks like he could be Fallon and Kimmel’s Dad. TV is a tough business.”
As NBC learned the hard way, replacing a beloved TV host with a younger guy does not always work. Conan is a great talent but he just didn’t work when he tried to replace Jay. No obvious candidate exists to replace Letterman, but Regis say’s – NBC’s Brian Williams would be a great choice!
Who do you think would be the best choice to take over for Letterman? – I say Tina Fey…lets end this white man late night monopoly.
