Andy Cohen on how hosting ‘KUWTK’ differed from ‘Housewives’ – “I am not an executive producer on this show. I was hosting it, and I was working on the script, and I was working on what I was going to ask them, but, you know, they have editorial control,” he told Heather Dubrow on her PodcastOne show. “So, it is so different than what you and I are used to.”
Cohen explained that the scheduling was a bit of a change for him as well, as he is used to starting reunions early in the morning and wrapping up by nighttime. However, the Kardashian-Jenners wanted to begin filming at noon.
“Like an hour into it, one of them had to go the bathroom, another wanted a touch-up, and then you know how then it’s a domino effect where everyone in the room is like, ‘Well, I have to go the bathroom!’ or ‘I want some water’ or whatever,” Cohen continued. “And then they all started getting up. I go, ‘Where are you going?’ And I think Kris was like, ‘We’re going to the bathroom.’ And I said, ‘Make it quick.’”
“I’m so used to our dynamic [on ‘Housewives’] where I’m a little more in charge of the situation … and I said, ‘I’m so sorry. I’m used to a different dynamic,’” he said. “I go, ‘You take as long as you want. This is your house. You don’t even have to come back!’”
Cohen also revealed that he was the one who pitched to the Kardashians the idea of doing a reunion after they filmed an episode of his E! series “For Real: The Story of Reality TV.” He said that Khloé, 36, was on board first, while Kim, 40, wanted to be “asked the s–t that nobody’s asked us before.”
