The Australian singer-songwriter seemingly made that clear when, upon a quick Instagram search, he unfollowed the “Mother’s Daughter” star on the platform. The feeling is mutual, though, as Cyrus doesn’t appear to be following Simpson either.
The suspicious move comes months after the superstar couple called it quits in August after 10 months of dating. The “Midnight Sky” musician decided to get in front of the breakup before the tabloids spun a false narrative about the couple’s apparently amicable split.
“So today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up, it was confirmed by a ‘reliable source’ even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the two individuals that are participating in it,” the 27-year-old said on Instagram Live at the time.
“But, for right now, two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be,” she continued. “Like everybody else at this age, we’re just deciding who we wanna be with our lives, what we wanna do with our lives. And so, don’t make it some drama story if next week we’re out hanging out or getting pizza. We’ve been friends for 10 years and we’re gonna continue to be friends.”
As fans know, the 23-year-old crooner and the Disney alum sparked a love connection in October 2019, just weeks after calling it quits with Kaitlynn Carter and two months after announcing her split with soon-to-be ex-husband Liam Hemsworth in August 2019. Simpson and Cyrus seemingly confirmed their new relationship when paps caught the longtime friends kissing at a restaurant in Los Angeles. From there, the rest was history… but clearly, that’s all changed now.
