Twitter users have become convinced that Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine’s lap in a now-viral video of the “Don’t Worry Darling” co-stars at the Venice Film Festival premiere Monday.
In the footage, the former One Direction member, 28, took the empty seat beside Pine, who had director Olivia Wilde on his other side.
After the “Late Night Talking” singer seemingly aimed his saliva at the 42-year-old actor, Pine froze mid-clap and stared into his lap with a smile before laughing to himself.
While some believe that Styles “100 percent” spit on Pine, others expressed their uncertainty.
“people actually think harry walked over there and decided to spit on chris for no reason, in front of multiple people?” one fan tweeted. “and chris made no movement to wipe it off and just sat there smiling and laughing? be f–king serious.”
Another provided a possible explanation, writing, “Chris pine just wondered where his sunglasses were after the applause. And he zoned out (likes he’s been doing all day) and realised [sic] it’s in his lap. So I am sorry to say harry styles did not spit on him.”
The “Contractor” star did make headlines over the weekend for his behavior during the premiere, from zoning out while Styles answered questions at a press conference tophotographing Florence Pugh with a Polaroid camera on the red carpet.
The cast members finished filming “Don’t Worry Darling” in February, one month after news broke that Wilde, 38, and Styles were dating.
In July, many speculated about drama between Pugh, 26, and Wilde over the on-set romance, as the “Midsommar” star missed many chances to gush over the project via social media — all while promoting other upcoming roles.
Wilde hinted at more drama on set in a leaked video of herself trying to convince the film’s original lead, Shia LaBeouf, to stay on after he quit.
“I think this might be a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo, and I want to know if you’re open to giving this a shot with me, with us,” the “O.C.” alum said in the footage, which was filmed in her car in August 2020.What do you think? Post a comment.
“If she really commits, if she really puts her mind and heart into it at this point, and if you guys can make peace — and I respect your point of view, I respect hers — but if you guys can do it, what do you think?
The video leaked after Wilde told Variety that she was the one to fire LaBeouf, 36, in order to keep her cast “safe” from the “Even Stevens” alum’s “combative energy.”ORDER A COPY OF ROB’S NEW BEST SELLING BOOK!
