Holly Robinson Peete Responds To Sharon Osbourne’s ‘Disgruntled’ Comment! Holly Robinson Peete has responded to Sharon Osbourne after the former The Talk co-host appeared to call her and Leah Remini “disgruntled ladies.”
While appearing on Friday’s (April 16) episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, Sharon denied the claims of both of her former “The Talk” co-hosts that she used racist and homophobic slurs during her time on the CBS talk show.
“I don’t even use those words, they’re not in my vocabulary,” Sharon told Bill before attempting to discredit Leah and Holly’s claims. “It’s disgruntled ladies.”
Hours later, Holly fired back at Sharon’s claim, tweeting, “So I’m told this lady told @billmaher that @LeahRemini & I are ‘disgruntled’. Didn’t watch – did Bill (who knows us both) push back or did he coddle & commiserate like w/ KellyAnne & Megyn?” She later tweeted at Bill directly, writing, “
Last month, CBS announced that Sharon had quit The Talk amid allegations of racist behavior. “Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave The Talk,” CBS said in a statement. “The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home.”
Two weeks prior to her departure, Sharon came under fire for her aggressive behavior and mistreatment of co-host Sheryl Underwood during a discussion about Sharon’s friend Piers Morgan, who quit his talk show in Britain following backlash for his comments about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Shortly after the March 10 broadcast, an internal investigation was launched when host Elaine Welteroth and her hairstylist spoke out about an allegedly “racially insensitive and hostile environment” on The Talk.
Former The Talk co-host Leah Remini later claimed that Sharon used racist and homophobic slurs when talking about some of her co-hosts.
Holly also spoke out about Sharon’s alleged history of racist behavior, tweeting on March 12: “I’m old enough to remember when Sharon complained that I was too ‘ghetto’ for The Talk… then I was gone. I bring this up now [because] I was mortified watching the disrespectful condescending tone she took [with] her co-host who remained calm [and] respectful because… she HAD to.”
Sharon later responded to Holly’s tweet in an interview with Variety. “It’s an absolute lie—a 110 percent lie,” she said. “I cannot have anyone fired… And that is a not a term I use. That’s not in my vocabulary. I don’t speak like that. The only ghetto I know is the Warsaw Ghetto and I think that’s the only time I’ve ever referred to something like that.”
So I’m told this lady told @billmaher that @LeahRemini & I are “disgruntled”🙄Didn’t watch- did Bill (who knows us both) push back or did he coddle & commiserate like w/ KellyAnne & Megyn?
