Miley Cyrus Protests July 4th: ‘It Ain’t A Party In The USA’ – Over the weekend, the pop superstar, 27, took to social media to remind her 111 million followers that not everyone in the United States is allowed liberty and justice. “This was in 2017,” Cyrus captioned a clip of her performance of “Party in the U.S.A.” at the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Festival. “Feels EVEN MORE relevant right NOW. It ain’t a Party In The USA until we see #LibertyandJusticeFORALL you heard me, FOR ALL! #fuckthefourthuntilthereisfreedom.”
Cyrus used her billing at our Las Vegas affair to speak out on injustice in the county. “It’s not a party in the USA if we don’t have equality, unity, justice, compassion, kindness, opportunity, healthcare, education, non-violence,” she told the crowd at the time. “So, f**k yeah, it will be a party in the USA. We’ll see it. If we all f**king come together, we’ll f**king make sure that it is, ’cause I’m not giving up. We can’t stop, all right?”
Earlier this month, Cryus joined the Black Lives Matter movement by hitting the streets of Los Angeles to protest for change and reform. “Yesterday I was joined by friends and experienced the power of peaceful protest organized by @blmlosangeles in front @mayorofla’s house with a simple demand: defund the police,” she shared. “There is a lot of work to be done to end systemic racism and white supremacy in our country, and I personally still have so much to learn and do to support.”
“Today, the charge against the officer who killed George Floyd was raised to second-degree murder and the other three officers involved in his death were charged too,” she continued. “We can’t stop fighting for justice—justice for George Floyd, for Breonna Taylor, for Tony McDade, for Ahmaud Arbrey, and the too many names we don’t know— BLACK LIVES MATTER.”
