Anyone thirsty for the royal tea everyone seems to assume will be spilled in Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir should prepare themselves for being metaphorically parched longer than expected.
The current buzz in royal news suggests that publication of Harry’s very controversial planned-memoir has been pushed back. This rumor is tied mostly to the fact that the memoir, which was originally expected out this fall, is notably absent from publisher, Penguin Random House’s list of upcoming releases. Royal insiders seem to be taking this as a sign that the book won’t be released until *at least* 2023—a development the Daily Mail suggests will come as a relief to Buckingham Palace.
“If this book’s coming out this year as originally planned it should be in the publisher’s marketing and promotional list—unless they’re planning a surprise or there’s been a delay,” one royal insider told The Sun on Sunday. “Its omission has raised lots of eyebrows in royal circles.”
The book has been controversial since the moment it was announced, with frequent reports suggesting that Palace officials and members of the royal family are nervous about what exactly Harry might divulge. In a statement at the time the memoir was announced, Harry said he planned to share his story “not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become” and that it would include “the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned,” but little else is known about the book.
As the Daily Mail reports, rumors that Harry’s memoir would be pushed backhave been swirling since at least May, as royal insiders and eager readers all started to get a little antsy about the lack of a firm release date announcement.
FWIW, Penguin Random House seems set against confirming anything about plans for the book’s release, with a spokesperson quoted as saying, “We don’t put every book on the list so there is nothing to be extrapolated from that.”
