Some people stay, some people go and sometimes, we don’t know where people go. But when Live With Kelly and Ryan star Kelly Ripa was absent again from the popular ABC morning program, her co-host Ryan Seacrest had some funny words about where she was at.
During the daytime talk show’s August 9 episode, Ryan and guest co-host Katie Lowes discussed embroidered pillowcases as part of a segment about bargaining. At one point during the conversation, Kelly got a quick shout-out letting her know that her absence was felt that day.
“Kelly, we miss you,” Katie told the cameras. “We got you a Consuelos one,” referencing the Generation Gap host‘s husband of 26 years, Mark Consuelos. But that wasn’t all. Ryan got in on the lighthearted moment and shared his own quip in response. “I heard she won the lottery. She’s fine,” the longtime American Idol personality said.
While it’s not the response Live fans may have expected to hear, Ryan’s not wrong about Kelly doing alright this summer. Apart from filming her new ABC trivia show, Generation Gap, she has been spending time with her Mark and their kids.
Still, the former actress and Riverdale star have carved out time to relax as a couple and empty nesters.
“This is our first vacation in 25 years without children and parents,” the Live Wire author told viewers during a July episode. “It’s usually us, with the kids or … kit and caboodle. So Mark and I were like, ‘What are we going to do without the kids?’ And the kids were like, ‘What are you going to do without us!? We’re your whole lives!’ And I was like, ‘Wrong again, kids.’
So, when are we going to see Kelly appear on Live again? We think it’s only a matter of time. Plus, she hasn’t made any official comments about whether she’s leaving her spot on the show anytime soon. In the meantime, we’ll be here looking forward to Kelly and Ryan reuniting!
