The Way the Sussexes’ Eviction Went Down Is Fully Wild and Involved a “Flurry of Letters and Emails”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially been evicted from Frogmore Cottage, news that their rep confirmed to Page Six, saying “We can confirm the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage.”
And according to The Sun, the royal couple were given notice of the eviction just 24 hours after the publication of Harry’s memoir, Spare, news which is said to have left them “stunned.” On top of that, Charles has offered the home to his disgraced brother, Prince Andrew, a decision which is best described as 😐.
So, how does the rest of the royal family feel about all this? Opinions appear to be divided between working and non-working royals. Per The Sun, King Charles’ decision to oust the Sussexes and invite Andrew to move in has been “backed” by Queen Camilla, as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton. Meanwhile, Andrew and his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, are “appalled” by Charles’ plans. (Note: Andrew’s been “resisting the idea of moving” and currently lives in the much bigger and much fancier Royal Lodge with Sarah Ferguson).
The Sun reports that there have been a “flurry of letters and emails” between Buckingham Palace and the Sussexes over the last month and a half, and that initially Meghan and Harry were given just *weeks* to pack their belongings. Thanks to “fraught negotiations,” they now have until after the coronation to remove their belongings from the home—which seemingly implies they could stay there still if they get invited to the coronation and choose to attend.
Strangely, a source told The Sun that “Charles wanted to start after his Coronation with the issues of Harry and Meghan and Andrew put to bed. The situation has dragged on far too long and he wanted to act decisively and quickly.”
Not sure how kicking them out of their U.K. residence accomplishes this, but okay!
