Wanderlust (1004 2nd Ave at 53rd St – 646-596-7855) a globally inspired eatery with striking & whimsical wall art & décor is now open for Breakfast Mon-Fri, Lunch & Dinner 7 days a week and Brunch on Saturday & Sunday. The Wanderlust menu features enticing shared plates inspired by culinary locales from around the globe; standouts for Lunch & Dinner include Appetizers ($10-$21) like Vegan Summer Rolls (with Angel Hair, Mint, Carrot & Cucumber), Oysters with Ginger (for 6), Chickpea Panisse, Cuban Croquetas, and Makoud (Tunisian Potato Omelette); Main Courses ($14-$21) like Mac N’ Cheese, the Red Bowl (with Red Quinoa/Onions/Beans, Tomatoes & Pomegranate), Poutine (French Fries, Brown Gravy & Cheese Curds), Shrimp Pad Thai, Tacos al Pastor, Veal Cordon Bleu; and Pizzas ($14) like the Formation (with Honey, Goat Cheese & Thyme) and Rolling In The Cheese (with Mozzarella, Gorgonzola, Ricotta & Parmesan).

The sleek eatery from restaurateur Eric Cerato has 60 seats and a festive, intimate atmosphere along with bold, white décor, and eye-catching crystal chandeliers placed throughout. Chef Matthieu Simon has worked as Head Pastry Chef at: Le Coq Rico in NYC; le Drouant in Paris; La Bonne Auberge (1* Michelin) in Clisson, France; Waterside Inn (3* Michelin) in Bray, UK; the 5-star Cadogan Palace in London; the 5-star Hôtel Sofitel in Wien, Austria, and Chez Bruno (1* Michelin) in Loegues, France.

Wanderlust’s Desserts ($3-$16) include Lemon Soufflé (with Basil Sorbet), Passion Fruit (Coconut-Lime Sponge Cake, Coconut Gelee, Passion Fruit Ganache, Fresh Mango), Baked Alaska (Mascarpone Sorbet & Strawberry Ice Cream), Peach/Strawberry Popsicle (with Prosecco or Rose & Poached Fruit), and a Sundaes like Mascarpone Ice Cream/Espresso/Sponge Cake and Pistachio Ice Cream/Raspberry Sorbet (with Lemon Olive Snow). Cocktails ($14) include Midtown East with lemon vodka, fresh mint, lemon juice & soda, Strawberry Rum Mojito and the Runaway Bride with vodka, elderflower liquid, lime & blackcurrant puree.

For Breakfast Mon-Fri (8am-11:30am) highlights include Crepe (with Lemon/Orange), Brioche French Toast (with Bananas), Avocado Toast and the Croissant (with Ham, Cheese & Béchamel), and for Brunch on Saturday & Sunday (11am-4pm) there’s also Maurissette (with Sunny Side Egg, Dill Cream Cheese & Salmon), Lobster Roll (with Homemade Brioche, Citrus Aioli & Peach), Basket of Chef’s Doughnut Holes and The Full English (with Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Mushrooms & Tomato).

Wanderlust owner Eric Cerato moved to NYC from his native France back in 2016 to buy the iconic La Mangeoire Restaurant (right next door to Wanderlust). His vast restaurant & hospitality knowledge led him to be a managing partner and owner of several hotels and restaurants. Wanderlust will be Eric’s first official opening of a restaurant in NYC with four other restaurants opening in NYC in the next year including the 200 seat Encore in the Meatpacking District.
